Help switching from Virgin to BT or Sky

I am considering switching from Virgin to BT. I already have an old BT line.

Can I just ask BT for the phone and have my broadband with O2.Or do I have to have BB with Bt for 12 months and then go with someone else.

is it possible for me to have both BB and phone line with O2 using BT land line without being with them for
12 months.

Ideally I would like 20mb broadband,a land line and unlimited land line calls. who provides the best packages for this type of bundle.

i am paying around £37 for land line, BB and basic tv with virgin. I have sky dish and just watch basic TV channels as I am usually out at work most of times.

Thanks for all advice

Your existing BT line will require reconnection, which is chargeable. No you do not have to get BT to do this, many telcoms will do this for you. Line rental contracts are normally 12m minimum.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Just to check - you do realise that it's "Up to 20Mbps" and the average is in the region of 6Mbps (it's not fibre-optic to any degree)

It's worth getting a speed estimate first. To actually get 20Mbps you need a phone line no more than about 900m long and decent gauge copper, which is probably only less than half a percent of the population.

Depends on what you have now, but if you have say 20Mbps now a drop to 10Mbps might be bearable, a drop to 2Mbps might not be.

O2 can connect the line - believe they charge £85 for that.
  • Just to advise you, I've recently left Virgin and initially wanted to goto O2. They could activate the line and said it was free, however they are unable to port numbers over from Virgin Media. I ended going with BT as they can :D Good luck.
