Try it out on a bit of your settee you can't see first victory.

Alternatively, don't forget your house insurance if you need to claim. If you have accidental damage cover, that is.

My eldest DD did that the day after I had a brand new three piece delivered in 1974 I still have the mark on the arm of the chair .She is now a grown up lady with almost grown up children of her own and if they have a mis-hap indoors, and she starts to rant at them I just look at her and say nail varnish and she stops creating. It's annoying I know but in the big scheme of things not so very important .I have a set of loose covers on my suite now ,but when ever i take them off I am reminded of the look of horror on her face when she was a little pig-tailed lass I think she though i was going to kill her .It was the first ever new furniture I had bought, and had had it made especially for us

no you're right it is not the end of the world:D

The day after I can laugh at it I just grabbed the nail varnish brush and the force I grabbed it with splattered it everywhere else over my trousers, my hand was covered, there seemed to be an endless amount of it!!!:rotfl:

My hand and trousers are clean and pink free just not the settee, I thought about claiming but it is really too small and having to pay the first £50 anyway but thanks for the idea:D

  • Not terribly OS but there is a stain devil which will remove nail varnish from all fabrics except leather or suede. Here's the link http://www.acdoco.co.uk/products/proddetail.asp?productId=84&prodcatid=3&mysection=glocare

    Good luck!

Hi Victory, i wouldn't bother trying to claim either. Last Christmas one of my girls accidently cut a slice into my leather chair while cutting cardboard fairy wings out for a school play. (hubby was supposed to be helping/supervising!!! - enough said, and yes he heard about it!)

Anyway i had accidental damage cover, and the inspector came to have a look. We have a 2 seater and 3 seater suite, black leather. The slice was on the end cushion of the 3 seater.

Anyway i was astonished that all he could offer to do, was to leave me to get a quote to have that end section *recovered*. I started ringing around furniture upholsterers and they nearly laughed me off the phone! One guy said do you know how many shades of black there are? Errrrr 1, i said. Nooooooo about 85 he said! It would be impossible to get a shade that look as supple (worn-in) as your own. (10 yrs old)

None of them would even take me on. I got back in touch with the insurers and told them, they said that i would have to get it recovered but only the 3 piece, they would pay £500 max. (quotes from upholsteres were about £1,200), so i would need to find the rest.......

the other 2 seater would remain untouched.

In the end, we told them to get stuffed! Changed insureres when policy ran out, and hubby fixed with a bit of sticky back black tape. You can't even see it now!

Sometimes have accidental cover isn't as great as it appears!
