I'd love to train to be a Doula. Does anyone know if there are any free courses around or if it's possible to get funding to do it?
Or if you can become one without training?

Yeh their courses are in about 4 or 5 modules at £250 each. I wondered if there was a college doing it along with their other courses.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I dont think you need any formal academic qualifications but I suspect it would be useful to have a basic counselling skills quali or even something like health and social care?
Good luck with it I have often thought it would be a good job!0 -
Doula UK
sounds similar to the British doulas. As far as I know, it is unlikely that you can train at most colleges - the only courses available would be through the recognised Doula associations.
You may be able to apply for charities and trusts funding though.
And I don't think you can call yourself a doula without the training."Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."0
