Halifax CC PPI - Where do I stand?

Hi,
I've had a Halifax credit card since 2004 and wondering if I have grounds to claim for PPI miss selling. When I was applying for the credit card I spoke to an advisor in a branch who told me that if I didn't take the PPI I was very unlikely to be accepted and that I'd have to keep it for the whole time I had the credit card.
I'm pretty sure the application couldn't be done in the branch at the time and so I think I applied online at home. I went for the PPI as didn't want to be rejected even though it wasn't wanted I would have got sick pay from my employer. I've been stuck with it to this day and have recently found out that I didn't even have to have it in the first place even though I was told I did!
I've got my agreement from Halifax that basically says nothing about the PPI expect I applied for it.
Do you think I have any grounds for reclaiming it?

From what you say it seems like you have been missold as they should not have told you that you are unlikely to get the credit card without PPI. That is one of the most common reasons for misselling complaints.
Regardless of this I would make the complaint anyway, there is a very good chance you will be successful. I was in the same boat, took out the card in 2004 and cannot remember being asked about PPI but they applied it to my account from that day till I cancelled the policy at the start of this year. I made a complaint in May and received a cheque for over 1K a week past Friday.
Good luck.0
