people have gone to prison in the past for this sort of ting on ebay and really needs to be stopped.
I would do all you can - ring the police, see the cab for advice as well.
Sorry youre going through this, thats a lot of money to lose xx

do you have an address for them? if you dont you can request it through ebay.

I think a lot of you are missing the point. From what I'm reading, the seller was advertising two boxes, and delivered two boxes. He's not claiming there was ever anything in them but was relying on people assuming there was. Hence ebay refusing to deal with it.

It's immoral, but I don't think it's illegal.

No but whatever you receive on Ebay, it doesn't take much to get it as a SNAD and be allowed to send it back for a full refund.

I do wonder at posts like these. 1 post, no further input and a very long time since all this has happened. And somewhat naively believable?

I can't comment on the reliability of the OP, but I sold DJ gear for 19 years. The Pioneer CD players that are the subject of this scam are the equivalent of an iPhone or iPad, very expensive and very desirable.
