Many Thanks to Everyone Who has Helped

Many thanks to everyone who has helped along the way......

I have just recieved my final cheque from the Halifax for Mppi misselling.....

Total.... £14,200 WooHooo......
(just £6000 short of paying the mortgage now)

My one remaining task is to get the Halifax to ammend their records... So that my ex-wife doesnt get a tax bill for a payment she hasnt had & should never of had

Congratulations :). I have made a claim about Mortgage PPI and was wondering when did they receive your claim? I applied 9 weeks ago and not had a response yet.

You may get lucky but you may have missed the boat. Whilst Halifax are so behind in sorting complaints they are auto upholding everything, including MPPI complaints, life assurance and CI which you wouldnt expect to be upheld. Once that backlog is cleared, they will stop doing that. So, success may well be decided on whether you are in that backlog batch or a newer batch.

You would have thought that they would stop auto upholding unjustified complaints because that would be sensible and rational.

But remember the way most banks operate is neither sensible nor rational.

The approach of the banks doing this is a pain. We answer questions on here about the rights and wrongs and if complaints are valid or not but then you get the auto upholding (or the auto rejecting as some were doing a few years ago) and that means when dealing with banks, you really dont have a clue on the outcome.

You rightly tell people they don't have a valid complaint but then they complain anyway and it gets upheld.

It makes it seem like you gave bad advice when you didn't. :rotfl:

The FOS would usually reject a Halifax mortgage PPI complaint unless someone was self-employed or else they had a serious pre-existing medical condition.

Having the insurance is usually considered a good idea with mortgages because you're left at risk without it however that's why the FOS are harsh on businesses when they don't point out the relevant exclusions.

Phone them to make sure they have recieved your claim....

Unfortunately I dont believe that anything you can do will speed them up.....

They seem to take about 10-12 weeks to reply saying they are upholding the claim..... Then another 6 weeks to send an offer.... then a further 3-4 to issue the cheque

The only plus to this is that while they are still working on it, you are getting 8% on any refund (better than any saving account)
