What about the saved quotes from the other two comparison sites? If they have disappeared too then I would start to get a bit suspicious.

"Tesco Compare" sent me an E-mail which DOES link to Tesco Compare's quotes (including the price they quoted me for More Than) - but when I click ON that quote, More Than's own website tells me that my "log in" isn't recognised, and to phone them.

"Beat that Quote" also sent me an E-mail containing the cheap More Than quote - when I enter their website, then try to click through the (cheap) More Than price link...the More Than website then opens up saying "Sorry, we can't offer you insurance" or some such rubbish.

Would folks agree it sounds like MT under-quoted on several Comparison websites - and realised their mistake, and are now retrospectively trying to cover their  embarrassed  tracks?

Assuming the purchase of insurance is treated legally in the same way as any other product, they are not legally obliged to honour the quote. Essentially, the quote is an 'offer to treat', you then make a formal offer to the seller to buy at that price, and the seller decides to accept or not. It's like something being mis-priced on a supermarket shelf.

Many thanks - I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy it from the first MT guy I spoke to (a few days back) - but as per a warning in one of the above replies (by "Vax2002")...perhaps I dodged a bullet (as they might have then cancelled it)...

I've had many quotes that seemed wrong compared to other insurers - and i snap them up on the internet. The insurance is valid - no matter what you paid. I have never had any cancelled.

Best home one, was contents and building insurance from a major insurer for £89 - with £90 cashback - so they paid me £1 to take it :D

I found a quote for a friend whos car insurance was normally £1000+ for just £189 - just because his recent claim made no affect on the price (and it was all submitted correctly and mentioned on the forms he received in the post).

Always snap it up if its too good to be true - they soon close loopholes when they spot them in the system. And don't try ringing them up - where a human can spot and report the error.

As for reporting them - doubt theres anything that can be done.

Yeah, I had that thought too - one of the people I might have spoken to might have noticed the price from Confused worked out to be about half of what it was showing on More Than's own website.

    Update -

Had a call-back from the guy I first spoke to - he was quite surprised that none of the 3 quote numbers (all from comparison sites) were allowing him to view them.

He asked if I had changed any details on the quotes since last speaking to him, and I said No

(even if I had changed them on ONE site, I definitely didn't alter details on the other Two sites).

He offered to put me through to a partner company, but I told him that his colleagues had already done that with me yesterday, and the other company had quoted me in the £700s.

He then offered to do a phone quote with me for More Than - and came back with £324 (including Legal cover and Protected NCD).

So more than the £250 I missed out on, but far cheaper than any of the other companies (the cheapest with no cashback would have been Admiral at £414 - or with Cashback would have been Aviva at a guess around the late-£300s.

I feel like someone whose lost £10, and then found £5 :rotfl::think:
