Buyer says paypal wont accept c/c...

I have been waiting for 6 days for a buyer to pay for an item they have won, after a few invoices and an e-mail but no responses I was getting ready to file an NPB tomorrow..
Then I finally get a message from the buyer saying that they have tried to pay by paypal but my account won't accept her credit/debit card.
I have a Paypal business account, which is fully verified.
Is the buyer having me on or something? It seems like a load of rubbish in my opinion!! Cheers

email paypal - they are very helpful with these sorts of problems and they will be able to tell what is going on if you explain the situtation and give them all the details.
If paypal say nothing is wrong, then file your claim!0 -
Its not upto the seller to contact paypal, its upto the buyer to sort out the payment. If they are located in the UK why not ask them for a different payment method like Postal Order or Cheque. If you still dont get paid go through the NPB process0

If there credit/debit card is used for another paypal account, it won't accept it, you can only use it for one account, which could be her problem. Has she already got a paypal account that she has forgotten about? or is it a joint credit card that is being used on her partners paypal account?
I would ask for alternative form of payment, if she can't sort it out in the next 24 hours!0 -

The point of contacting paypal is to see if they buyer is telling the truth.
If the buyer is lying, this could go round and round in circles. One simple email to paypal will sort out the problem.
Paypal is the safeset payment for the seller to accept, so don't go bending over backwards to accommodate the buyer - he may be trying to con you.0 -
Hi thanks for all of your replies!
I have checked and the buyer is in Italy... would you think this makes a difference?
I am going to e-mail paypal now, but I am not sure what details to include.0 -
Is it possible that she's having trouble getting her credit card accepted by paypal? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
A couple of years ago I bought a laptop and tried to pay by paypal (credit card). I had been using the card for a little while and all of a sudden it wouldn't take it. What I had failed to do was validate the card by putting in the four digit number that appeared on my card statement. This was generated when I registered the card on paypal and agreed to them debiting the card with a nominal amount. I couldn't find the appropriate statement and had to go through the verification process again and wait 5 days for it to appear on my online statement. Fortunately when I explained to my seller he was more than to wait a few days.
Perhaps this problem is something similar0 -
Just say something along the lines of....
Dear Joe Blogs @ Paypal,
I have sold an item on eBay (Item number: XXXXXXXX) and the winner bidder (Bidder ID) has tried to pay though paypal but claims her payment has not been accepted.
Please can you check my account to see if there is an error and please could you adivse me of what I should do next.
Thank you very much,

Oh yes - it could be the overseas problem.
I have had this before - I sold an item to someone in the states but paypal would not accept the payment from them or some reason.
So in your email to paypal mention that they are from italy and ask if this is a problem.
Good luck!0
