Hi Seletar,
There probably wasn't a charge 18 years ago, so you should receive full amount, I wrote to my previous lender and they are going to refund full amount £225 plus interest of £24. I had originally taken out my mortgage in 1989. I was with C&G and they got back to me within day. Good luck....:j0 -
Anyone knows whether this applies also to "Buy to Let" mortgaes?0

Yes Doublespresso I have four buy to let properties which I intially mortgaged with Nat West. I have just sent a letter to them claiming £560 including interest.0

I'm in the process of trying to sort out my parentals claim - they took out the mortgage, with Bradford & Bingley, in 1969 and redeemed it in 2005 with a sealing and deed release fee totalling £200 - as far as I'm aware they've never increased/changed the mortgage (number of loans secured against the property) so I've requested the whole amount back for them...fingers crossed.
Now looking into my partners, brothers, cousins etc....0 -
it is the same as amount stated in my contract. I had a mortgage with Abbey and the Exit fee stated was £225. I have recently moved house which meant paying off the old Abbey mortgage and taking out a new one - still with the Abbey and I paid the £225...is it possible to claim this back when the amount paid matches the amount on the contract?
Thanks :-)0 -
Anyone dealt with Direct Line yet? I had a mortgage with them also back in 2000 but have no paperwork.0

Does anyone have the number to ring the Halifax on to discuss mortgage fees? I had a mortgage with them for over 10 years and only changed lenders in 2006.
Also, (I understand Halifax are being good with refunds) can I do it with just my mortgage account number? Not sure what happened to my old documents!0 -

I did not have my old documents - it just took a little longer that's all.0
