I did call before and the tax office told me that you have be in a job for at least 5 weeks before they will check to see if your employer has registered you for tax. When I first requested paysilp/pay statement I had only been in my job for 3 weeks so I had to wait.
And now you have been there how long? You are now going to be missing 3 payslips soon?

Just make sure you get the PAYE ref and if they ask you why you want it, just say for your own tax records.

If they can't give it to you that day then they do not have one.
  • Is this a new company or a long-established one? Partnership or limited company? It's very, very difficult indeed for a company which has traded for any length of time to avoid paying over your tax and national insurance deductions. Therefore they should have a PAYE reference number.

  • By law you must receive your payslip either before or on the day you are due to be paid. This can either be electronic or on paper. If this is not happening contact your CAB who will give you details of the right person to contact. I believe that you can inform on your company autonomously.

The OP has already gone over that and was told to request a payslip/statement as the co they work for doesn't give them out normally and it's only by request but still hasn't got them and is going to contact Inland Revenue with their company PAYE ref number when or if they give it to them.

Yes, but what I was trying to say this (the highlighted bit) is illegal. By law they must provide the payslip and not be asked for it.

yes they know that but it's up to them what they want to do about it. I would just demand or it's up to the company as to what they want to happen. Whatever anyone says if the company sacks you for asking I am sure an investigation from Inland Revenue is not what they would really want.
