A postal address for Santander problem?

Options
I'm looking for a postal address for a Santander problem i have. I've contacted them 3 times via "secure message" & been ignored 3 times. 4 weeks have passed with no reply.

I tried the phone number - not very helpful. CA i got seemed to be one of those "computer says no" people.

Next step - snail mail.

PROBLEM:

The gf & I had eSaver Issue 3 accounts. I noticed the Issue 4 offering 0.1% more so thought why not.
Contacted Santander regarding this. They said open one up, transfer the balance across & then contact them to close the Issue 3.

Did this for the pair of us. The gf's was closed in a matter of days. Mine is still open. Not only this i have another eSaver account to my name which i don't understand (how).

I know you can "hide" them from your online account, but i want to delete them totally, and the interest owed on my Issue 3 be paid to my Issue 4.

Only difference between the gf's case & mine was she received interest monthly, whereas mine is/was annually.

So basically i'm wanting this rogue eSaver to be closed/deleted. I also want my old Issue 3 to be closed/deleted & the pending interest to be paid to my Issue 4.

I didn't expect it to be such a difficult request.

Didn't you say you opened a new Issue 4? Or do you now have 3 esavers?

I'm not really sure what your problem is. Is it that you've tried to close the account but can't do it on the phone? Well, first move all the money to the esaver4. Then write down the number of the esaver3, and go to a branch and tell them you want to close it.

I've always been able to close accounts in branch in 10 minutes. The procedure seems to be different each time, but probably because the staff are confused. They should be able to direct the interest into your esaver4, if not, they can give you cash and you can redeposit it.

Sorry if i made things sound confusing. Here's the situation...

    * I had an eSaver 3 ... so did the gf
    * Santander brought out eSaver 4
    * I secure messaged Santander asking to change my eSaver 3 to an eSaver 4 (same for the gf). They told me to open an eSaver 4, transfer the funds from eSaver3 to the new eSaver4 & then secure message Santander to close the [now old] eSaver3.
    * I did this, for the pair of us.
    * Santander closed down my gf's eSaver3 as promised. My eSaver3 remained open. --- the only difference between our accounts was than i received annual interest where she received monthly interest.
    * A week goes by, i ask Santander to close the eSaver3 and transfer the due interest to my eSaver 4.
    * Another week goes by, i ask again.
    * It's now 4 weeks with no response, so i call them. They don't really answer me with anything. They tell me i can "hide" my account online. I know this & tell them i want it CLOSED and the due interest paid to my eSaver4. They say this can't really be done until the interest is paid to the account.

    * I come on MSE.

Hopefully that clarifies things. As for going to the bank, i'm now no longer on holiday from work which makes it impossible to get to a branch.

Here's the postal address for complaints:
    Complaints
    Santander UK PLC
    PO Box 1125
    BRADFORD
    BD1 9PG

If you can make it to one of the branches that opens on a Saturday then that might well be worthwhile too. I've found people in the branches to be pretty receptive to helping with complaints (it's a common mystery shopping scenario so I have raised complaints in various different branches and always encountered genuine concern).

    Thanks for that.

Unfortunately, i work Saturdays also, so the next time i can get into my local branch will be 2012 some time.

    Letter on its way.
  • Did you send signed for? If not, you can always email them and tell them you have also forwarded a copy in writing. This email address works, I've used it.

I recently had a 'communication' issue with them too regarding a bond held by my mother. I sent a complaint via the form on their website (as branch staff were hopeless) - someone rang my mother the next day and sorted it all out. (Though she had to go the branch the next day as she couldn't find her bank card to answer the security questions!)

The branch staff had previously said they would sort it but didn't.

When she went again after the phone call the staff were rude and claimed they had no idea what she was talking about (even though the lady who rang said she phoned them to explain) - so in my experience a complaint is better than dealing with people in branch.

I expect it will be similar with a letter- someone will call you and hopefully sort it out.
