Business and income support

Hi,
I'm hoping to set myself up as a business seller on eBay in the new year, I am starting a business degree in sept 2013 and would like to get some hands on experience as much as I am able.
I am on Income Support and receive DLA. I am aware of the £20 earnings disregard with income support but not sure if this reflects becomming self employed.
I am aiming to work approx 8 hours a week in the evenings and two post office runs a week on the business and think for the first 3-4 months I will be running at a small loss as I get 'established' and adjust my prices etc to work better.
I don't think I will sell an item for more than £9.50 all in so I will be setting up a micro-payments account on paypal if possible!
obviously I need to speak to someone at the jobcentre but I am currently immobile and their phone service is awful!
I am wondering how I keep them informed of how much I am earning on a weekly basis and whether it automatically means I will be forced off income support?
Does anybody have any advice?
Thanks

my serious advice would be dont do it,very few people manage to make ebay pay on a small scale, will be especially hard in the new year
there are alsorts of things people omit to consider a couple being, telling your council you are using your home for business purposes(and possibly being charged business rates),informing your insurer you will be holding stock in your home and likewise if you have one your mortgage lender
and last but not least registering with HMRC as self employed0
