Would you rather not have the cash than no job ? but entirely your choice if you feel its not worth it.

If you're the guy I remember who doesn't see too well, I understand completely how difficult you find it. I have narrow vision and couldn't do the job in a large hall either. Give them a week's notice and find something else.

Id probably wait until youve looked around for some work before moving on. Ive had jobs where ive hated them at first and eventually come to love them. Usually because ive started to click with people at work and find common ground.

It's early days although sometimes you just know that you won't settle in a job and is it worth sticking it out for a bit longer?

I would imagine a week's notice would be sufficient enough - are you paid weekly or monthly? if it's monthly, they may require a 4 week or calendar month notice. This should be in your contract.

If you dislike the job and the people it is better to quit now before they will want to get rid of you.
  • The questions that you need to ask:

    - Could you survive without having an income after you quit this job?

If the answer is no, don't quit just yet. Look for a new job whilst you're still working there. Once you've found a new job then you can just quit. It also sounds "nicer" that you quit because you get a better job, not just because you hate the job :)

Notice periods are separate from pay intervals.

Weekly paid staff could be required to give 3 months notice if the employer put that in the written particulars of employment.

If it were a monthly paid job, the employer would still only be entitled to one week's notice if they had not (as indicated by the OP) stipulated any notice period.

I quit my job 6 days ago. My last shift is tonight! I've got an interview at a mobile phone shop on Tuesday which is more 'up-my-street' being a techy student! :)
