This might sound like a silly question

Hi all

I want to transfer the balance on my credit card to one that is 0% for a while to help me pay it off. Obviously I understand that I would have to have all the details in my home address but would I be able to get them to post it to another address i.e. my partners?

The reason I ask is because my relationship with my family isn't great so I'm determined to get debt free before telling them "this is what I did but look how I've managed to get myself out."

So if I was to set up the card so I can pay off without all the interest can I have it sent to a different house?

Sorry for the rambling post lol

You are applying for a new 0% card? The CC company will only send it to your registered address (fraud issues), but you may be able to pay and get the Post Office to do a redirect to another address.
  • Thanks for replying. I'll look into it.

I don't plan on using the card and will probably chop it up as soon as I get it - I just want a 0% card to start reducing my debt down easier.

Royal Mail redirection may be the way to go as long as there aren't other people in the household with the same initial.
I tried in once but in my household 3 of us had the same first initial and it didn't work very well.

As above your best bet is to set up a royal mail redirect before applying.

    few issues with the redirection
your family will get a letter telling thm a redirection has been set up at their address
the CC letters may come through as "do not redirect"
so you would be paying for a redirection but these wouldn't be redirected
if you are local then a mail collect maybe a better option

  • Thanks custardy, Didn't think about that

Why would your family open your post? Unless they do they'll see no incriminating details, just the fact that you are getting mail from XXXX. And even that may be anonymous - they don't advertise where it comes from unless it actually contains an ad.
  • I never mentioned anything about opening my post. They never have and never will do that. I just wanted to know if I could have it delivered elsewhere so that I could avoid any awkward conversations.
