  • Google PDSA in Stevenage, they may help, however as a teacher I don't think you will qualify - what they class as low income is not a teachers salary!

Did you get them from rescue, as they may help to neuter.

Have you priced neutering, my practice is v expensive and is only £78 for a rabbit castrate!

If you're a qualified teacher you should be earning at least 21K and its highly unlikely that you'll be eligible for any help on that.

If you only work part time you'd still need to be receiving a qualifying benefit.

Can't see 2 male rabbits breeding to be honest ;)
  • You're not being much help people... have you tried the local PDSA/RSPCA they might be able to give you suggestions.

Down here we have a local Friends Of The Animals... see if there;s any local to you...

Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.

But they can get quite hormonal and fall out, neutering has behavioural benefits. Not to mention unneutered male rabbits have really stinky urine!
I would shop around, I only paid about £60 for mine to be neutered and that included dental treatment for some of them. Plus I'm in Surrey, and my vets aren't the cheapest in the area.
If they were from a rescue then maybe see if they can help, if not see if a local rescue is able to help - they may get reduced rate neuters and be willing to have them neutered through their vet for a donation/if it helps keep two rabbits in a home.
I would definately start a vet savings fund for them though, if you're struggling financially after just a couple of months of owning them then what will you do if one was to get gut stasis in the middle of the night and needed to see an emergency vet? If one developed ongoing dental issues? Rabbits can rack up vet bills just like a cat or dog so definately worth putting money aside each month for vet treatment.

They will fight with each other if not "done". They will start to spray too if they are not done and it will stink, not good if they are house rabbits.

I cannot see the OP getting any help, a teachers salary is not classed as a low income.

It will cost approx £70/80 each.
  • I think you need to be on Housing or Council Tax benefit for PDSA. I doubt that on a teacher's wage you'd qualify.

Also if they're only 4 months then you should have at least another month, perhaps two, before the hormones start to kick in properly so it gives you a bit of time to save some money. Can you have a carboot/stick some stuff on Ebay to raise a bit of money? Ask for money from some relatives for Christmas instead of gifts?

The OP is not going to qualify - that IS being helpful. Various prices have been given and if a new pet owner can'afford £100 to treat the pets they need to find thema home that can take care of them.
