Yes, all UK and Europe stores and online closing.
It was a 50/50 partnership with CPW and I guess they millions they were losing (£174 million to date) just wasn't worth it.0 -
I still don't know what
means.what was they mooted as?"There is no substitute for time."
Competition wins:
2013. Three bottles of oxygen! And a family ticket to intech science centre. 2011. The Lake District Cheese Co Cow and bunny pop up play tent, cheese voucher, beach ball and cuddly toy cow and bunny and a £20 ToysRus voucher!0 -
My nephew works for them , so looks like he will be losing his job!!!

And no , its not easy to walk straight into another job , especially during these times!!0 -
Didn't Charles Dunstone say that they hoped to redeploy most staff to CPW stores when they announced Best Buy closure? Something to do with the fact they intend to open CPW dedicated to tablets etc.My nephew works for them , so looks like he will be losing his job!!!

10 - 30% is a pretty meagre sale, let alone for a closing down sale! Thanks for the heads up though OP0

Yes, because Best Buy Europe is owned 50/50 with CPW.
Most of the staff will *probably* be OK.0 -
Thank you for your caring commentsYou tell someone there is no need for insults (I didn't see any insults?) and state you have reported them, only to follow it up with a big arrogant insult back, nice..
Unless you're in the situation of being out of work and actually seeking employment (by your statement I'm guessing you're not) saying it will be easy for them to find another job is just ignorant. Not only that but it is incredibly ignorant to state that those that 'chose to work' for bestbuy and choosing to stay with them rather that find new employment, in the current climate that is far harder than you think.
It's not that they chose to work for bestbuy or chose to stay with them rather than seek new employment, the lack of jobs out there means you take what you can get regardless of who that job is with, if there are no jobs out there what did you expect them to do?
There are less jobs out there than there has been for a long time and in some cases there are 100's of people applying for a single job. Adding to that things are getting worse and will continue to get worse for the next few years so saying getting a new job is easy is just a silly statement to make.
It seems most people don't care about companies closing down/going out of business and what that means for it's employees.. all that matters to them is that there is a nice big sale for them to take advantage of.. and those loosing their jobs 'isn't their problem'..0 -
How would you go on if you purchased an electrical item from them with them closing down? I was looking at a fridge/freezer but was bothered in case something went wrong with it.0

I have also reported your posts, I am so suprised people are getting upset over this. Lets remember the point was the SALE not the staff and their life.
