I need a bulb for a Guardian 2000 security light tonight. We got burgled 2 days ago and we really need this. I was hoping b and q would maybe stock one. Please advise as I do not have a clue about the type of bulb etc to buy.
Many thanks

Standard tungsten Halogen linear lamp 500w.
Take the old one with you - even the muppets at B&Poo can't get this wrong.
Do not touch the bulb when installing new one.

Thanks sooooo much!!! Why shouldn't I touch the bulb when installing new one?0

As others have said, it looks like a very common type of fitting:
http://www.electricsandlighting.co.uk/security-lights/1771-bg-guardian-2000-500-watt-black-floodlight-with-pir-.html
so any 118mm R7 bulb should do, eg.

If the DIY shops are closed, larger supermarkets will probably have them as well.0 -

Grease on your fingers will cause a hotspot on the glass/quartz and "allegedly" cause it to blow quicker than it normally would.Perfection takes time: don't expect miracles in a day

It will be a 500w tungsten element they are quite cheap to buy less than £5
Dont touch them if you can I tend to use a cloth and wipe afterwards just in case. If you dont they wont last long0 -

 How many MSE posters does it take to change a light bulb?
