water butt tap to hose pipe

I have 2 water butts that have taps at the bottom- to run off into a bucket. The tap has no screw fitting . I wanted to connect a hosepipe onto this but the hosepipes (most seem to be half inch) are too small across. None of my usual hosepipe fittings seem to fit- just drop off or leak too much to be of use. I wanted to find a three quarter inch hose that I could put on and fix with a jubilee clip, but cannot find any. Has anyone else found a solution to this. Its quite heavy carting buckets of water around. Thanks

Not sure if they do but how about looking in an aquatics shops, l wonder if the clear hose they use for some of the large outdoor filters may be ok

As paulofessex says, an aquatics supplier will have a stepped adaptor such as this one:

They are easy to cut with a hacksaw, so you just chop them down to the 1/2 to 3/4 sizes that you need.

How easy would it be to change the tap? My newest barrels have taps on with screw fixings. Hoses don't always work well from water butts due to insufficient 'drop' for the water in my experience.

thanks everyone. they all look possible and I hadn't found any of these. Slow water flow is not a problem as long as it the water runs. thanks again joanna
