Can I recover texts I deleted from my phone please?

I've accidentally deleted all the texts on my mobile that my husband has sent me.
He has lots of them still on his old phone and some on his new phone but there's a gap of several weeks when his old phone was too full to keep them and he didn't get round to swapping to a new phone.

I'd really like to get the texts from that gap back. He has always used the same number and is happy to give permission to recover them.
Any ideas please? My provider is Virgin and I have a Sony Ericsson W995.

almost certainly they are gone forever, the provider will not be able to recover them.
a solution in the future could be to use email to message each other, gmail's motto is 'archive not delete' (if your phones can do email)

:(Can't do email sorry. Thanks for your reply though. I hadn't realised how they were like a kind of shared diary till they were gone. Sad.
