Coming briefly out of lurkdome, and then find I can't find quote. My OH classic yesterday (when he'd asked what was for dinner, and watched me make what was for dinner, which was not ham) was to shout up any ham here for a sandwhich, yes, says I use packet on top shelf which needs using . . .Look at date . . .
and come down 10 mins later to find £3.50 worth of ham joint opened for 2x
pieces of white sliced:mad:
Bit extravagant says I as there is a pack of 4 slices needs using up and that joint will do us for 4 meals . . and we're skint
OFFS says he, its only a sandwich . . .
20+ years and he still doesn't learn . . .0 -
Thank you both it does make a difference to know I am not alone in my trials0

Kidcat I would be tempted to batch cook the week's meals in one go, and if he eats his 'as and when he feels like it', let him go without at the proper mealtime as you and the kids sit down to your meal. Maybe then he will learn. I think it's very selfish of him to do that.
Or go away for a few days and leave him to cope? (Mwah ha ha ha ha ....)
If all the women in this country went on strike at once, at least half the men would starve and a fair proportion of those left would give themselves food poisoning!
ETA: thanks to those who wished me luck at job centre. It was ok. I am supposed to apply for three jobs a week, so that'll be brain surgeon, jet pilot and chief exec of sainsbury's then .... oh, and I had to fill in a form to declare that I'm not co-habiting with lodger boy!!Aspire not to have more but to be more.

my RV can disrupt anything!
Mardatha, pleeeeeze put me out of my misery and tell me what the letters 'RV' stand for? I've been trying to figure it out for ages and it's driving me mad!0 -
That made me laugh unclebryn. They are all the same though. It's normally the left over chicken that gets gobbled in our house... I generally come down from my bath to see him snacking on the chicken leg I had in mind for a curry the next night.

Fuddle - if it's what I think it is "subscribe and save" is where you order something to be delivered on a regular basis and get a good price for it - I did it with catfood. They contact you before the due date and ask if you want the order and you can defer or even cancel it - there's no obligation to buy but it can be good if you buy certain things from them regularly. I cancelled in the end as the cat now lives with separated-OH.
Why am I sitting wrapped in a fleece in June?"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
I'm read hot lizzyb. I've just finished some ironing though so might be that.
Thanks, yeah it was subscribe and save - 10% off. I'll go order my bread flour then as with free delivery sure beats pulling it in the auld trolley when I get it.Should do it with my SR and P flour too actually. The problem will come though if I miss delivery and have to walk to post office to cart home 6KG of flour!

Lifting head briefly from huge pile of marking to say that dad is home!! :j After nearly 5 months in hospital, he was quite emotional I think. I would have been too.
There will need to be a period of readjustment to his new circumstances though. But there were times he thought he'd never see the house again (and so did we) so this is the best news.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
