  • Hugs VJsmum. I'm sorry to hear about your dad, it's never easy being a distance away and not being able to go straight over to help.

Hopefully the hospital will be able to sort him out and you'll get some good news soon.

As for aversion therapy - I always end up tidying the house when I'm waiting for news of my elderly parents!
  • hi just can't read and run ((hugs)) to VJsmum.

  • VJsmum that happened to my elderly neighbour - was stuck on the loo for ages before he summoned my help via his telecare system, and when the ambulance arrived they thought he'd had a tia - turned out to just be exhausted with it. Came home after a couple of rest days quite the thing

Interesting looking book Mar - I was given some lovely Crabtree & Evelyn soap for chrimbo and have wondered about trying to make something similar. It's lavender and smells beautiful.

Let us know what you think of it when it arrives?

I have a friend who is a very experienced soaper & runs a big website, she has offered to come down in summer and give me a tutorial. But in meantime I wanted try it myself, hence the book. So is one more step on the stairway to self sufficiency !
VJmum, sending nice calming healing vibes for you and yours xxx
  • VJsmum, hugs to you and to your dad. I'm sure he'll be fine. Diarrhoea can play havoc with your body in all kinds of unexpected ways. He probably just needs rehydration and some TLC. I'm sure they'd have sent for you if it were serious. But it's horrible sitting and waiting. My mum had a stroke and even though she was only 100 miles away she might as well have been on the moon. I know it's hard but you're right to try to focus on something else.

Oh well I've broken my new years resolution and ordered a book :o Not even the end of Jan...but in my defence I had credit on Amazon, so it didn't cost anything, and I'm hoping I might get some business usage for me or DD out of it...It's a book about 'raw' chocolate, which is supposed to be delicious and good for you...

Tonight for dinner we are having swineherds pie... I blitzed/magimixed the remains of my £6 something whoopsied pork joint from the other day...we've had three meals for four adults out of that now so blimmin' good value!

There's a bug going around here that's making people feel sicky and pooey (TMI) which I seem to be fighting off valiantly, I've not actually come down with it, but I feel very iffy, and tomorrow we have to go to the hospital with OH again, but nothing to dreadful promised this time, so I'm hoping to take advantage of being in Town to do some stock up shopping. Hope I feel better in the morning...and that OH doesn't get it!

Need to go to Wilkinsons, as the dog chews there are a fraction of the price of the ones they sell in Mr T and they are exactly the same. I've also got a £5 off a £40 shop voucher for Mr T...so trying to figure out what I can get in there to make sure I take full advantage of the fiver.
Nothing for the freezer that's for sure..I think I might see if I can live off the contents of the freezer and the Armageddon cupboard for the whole of Feb? We'd only need milk, and a few fresh veggies... it's DS's 20th Birthday mid month though...so I might have to exclude that!

Hugs to all in need of hugs.

smileytthank you so much. I already have the kindle app loaded on my laptop, but I never thought of looking in the library for ebooks. I had a look this morning, and our library gave the complete instructions for downloading the required software. I now have two ebooks out on loan (and yes I am able to read them I've checked). The best thing is that they can't go overdue. They are mine for three weeks, and then they just go. What a fabulous idea.
