I know you ladies will enlighten me

Use it in place of cheese in a cheese sauce, it melts quiet well, so macaroni cheese cheesy pasta bakes etc.
into soups, into mashed potatoes, into cheese scones. Add other things into it and make a dip or melt it into a fondue (add a little milk). Spread it on a roll of pastry add chopped onion and other bits a little grated cheese, roll it up and cut into slices and make party pin wheels.
In America they make cheese spread into small balls and put various coatings around it such as chopped crispy bacon.
Add it to raw mince and onion and breadcrumbs and make meat balls. or use the mince to wrap around the cheese spread and make burgers with a melting middle.
Use it between layers of potatoes and onion to make a cheesy potato bake (add some bacon, spring onions etc)
Have a look for recipes using brie to get some more ideas.

Afternoon everyone
D&DD Dinner sounds fantastic...any room for a not so small one? (I make up for in width what I lack in height)
paidinchickens I have a houseful of books and a kindle. At home I tend to read paper books, but find the kindle invaluable for when I'm out and about. None of my family has books in their houses and before when I visited half the case was taken up with books. Now I just put the kindle in my handbag.
I have made the yogurt marmalade cake and it tastes very good. I would say that it isn't the prettiest cake going, but the lemon zest really comes through well. I baked it in a 2lb loaf tin and it took forever to cook, I gave up after it had had an extra 30 minutes. So next time I will probably split the mix between two 1lb tins.
DH is at Dublin airport and is hopefully staying out of the bar before his flight home at 6.40pm. I'm not expecting him home before 10pm, but will be glad to have him back. At some point I must think about what to cook for dinner that everyone will eat. Lunch was a fend for yourselves meal, so I should cook dinner. I'm just not in the mood to spend ages cooking one meal. I shall have to see what I can come up with. Maybe toad in the hole with onion gravy and veg.
For now however I think I'm going to go and have a soak in a hot bath and warm up a bit.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -
wen3 - malt loaf bread and butter pudding? Heat it up and have it with custard? Send it to me? :rotfl:
Think I'd keep that appointment - if it flares up again you don't want doctor saying you should have kept it.......... and it will ease DH and your mind too.
D&DD - sorry about your respite carer and that you're so tired. I know what you mean about doing a meal that is mostly home-produced stuff - it gives you a real glow doesn't it?
Very windy here - made pup's floppy ears stand straight up :rotfl:Wind is making it cold too so hunkered down in indoor winter gear - fleecy jumper on top of layers, hottie on lap, plenty of tea. Curry for tonight - yum - if I can be bothered to get out of my snuggled up position and make it! Was just reading about the peanut butter price hikes luckily I stocked up when the price of peanuts went up in the States..I keep a general eye on their prices through various forums and papers and so far have managed to keep one step ahead with most of the stuff we use.
They're currently having hikes on dried pulses and barley if thats any help to anyone??0 -
I haven't posted for ages, but just wanted to say that Weezl's home-made peanut butter is fantastic (with or without the pumpkin seeds) and, last time I looked, I think it works out cheaper than value peanut butter if you an track down some value peanuts.0

I never thought I would buy an e reader. I love the feel of books too and love arranging them in my bookcase. In fact I get really excited about buying a new book:o. However, last year I bought a Kindle for my DH. He loved it and I was so jealous that I had to get one for myself, So I've compromised, its reference, craft and cookery books etc in my bookcase and novels and biographies on my Kindle. I must admit to even having the newspaper on it because it works out cheaper than buying one and it's enviromentally friendly because it doesn't use paper:D Finally it's good for reading in bed because by bedtime I'm so tired I can't be bothered to turn the pages properly and books can be a bit heavy sometimes. So I can just flop and press a button.....I'm so lazy:DSealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Oh dear
Just had a phone call from brother to say that elderly father is being taken to hospital. A different brother found him on the loo this morning, he has severe diarrhoea and can't get off. They aren't sure if he's had a small stroke, though he is coherent and talking and knows what's going on. I am hoping it is the diarrhoea which has messed up his body chemistry as it seems he just can't move. Feel awful for him as it's so undignified and he must have been scared, sat there all alone. I am 200 miles away and they are saying that there isn't much point in me flying down there as there isn't anything I can do, and it doesn't appear to be a "life or death" situation. It is so awful sitting and waiting for news though. There isn't even a lot of poiint in ringing as he won't even be at hospital yet. It doesn't help my winter Sunday night - itis. I hate Winter Sunday nights - particularly as that is when mum died.
Sorry to burden - just feel a bit helpless. I'll change the subject to try aversion therapy.
I have taken advantage of free listings and listed a few things on Ebay, last time only 1 of my 15 items sold so hoping for better luck this time. I think I will also tidy the kitchen.
Life is hard sometimes.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
