in Credit cards
Hiya
Haven't used the card, in fact destroyed it, about three years ago. Still paying charges galore. Hubby has offered to pay it off, just about 350.
They won't take any money off if I clear the debt but offered to set up a payment plan.
Basically, we want to pay it off with a reduction and they won't budge - pretty hard when you're talking to a robot - and then I'm going to attempt to claim those charges back.
Any tips on getting them to reduce my debt? Will they even consider it?
Thanks

Have you already defaulted on the account?0

yes, we seem to be going over the same thing every time "I sent your income / exp form back a year ago, you say you didn't receive it and won't sent me a new one" then "we can put you on a payment plan" are two things I am fed up of going over.
I want to pay the whole thing off, its that simple, but they don't want my money because they are clocking up all these charges so want me to pay monthlyYou can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt

Well, the bottom line is that if they think they're going to get their money, then they won't let you get away with less. Which is why reduced offers are generally only accepted once you are in collections or have been passed to a DCA. But allowing that to happen obviously wrecks your credit rating further.
Can you use the money to get back on track with minimum payments and out of whatever arrangement you're on?0 -
thanks for your replies, hubby really just wants it off my case to be honest so guess will have to just pay themYou can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt

Unless its defaulted they wont take less, the quicker you resolve the sooner your file will get back to normal.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Just pay what is outstanding on the account and allow a bit to cover interest. so long as you cover what your balance is you should be ok!It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0
