Big (((hugs))) Sammie you sound very strong and brave

Another possible save : £65 for NTL.
I assume this is broadband, phone and cable TV package? Maybe look at downgrading the broadband speed to reduce the monthly cost? Try a freeview box instead of cable TV (about £30 one off). Maybe find a cheaper separate phone provider as well. Look at Skype maybe?
Save the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate! :)
  • And don't keep automatically paying your TV licence, is what occurs to me - get in touch with them to find out how to get a cheaper licence assuming your OH is registered blind.

Have you been in touch with the RNIB? - I know they have a whole range of useful publications including stuff for partially sighted people, and I think some of these deal with benefits - perhaps they can help you with IB? Basically my advice on benefits would be 'appeal, appeal. appeal' - the basic approach of the powers that be nowadays seems to be to refuse almost all applications, but these are often granted on appeal. Get help from someone like CAB in preparing your appeal if you can.

Good luck and lots of good thoughts coming your way! - JM

sammy_kaye18 - Your post is so admirable, you are obviously struggling but at the same time keeping your chin up. It definately puts things into perspective, just wish there was something I could do to help...! I hope your washing machine gets sorted too - this board shows such community spirit and its great!! I am sure the money situation will fix itself, just keeping calling & calling - and it will get sorted eventually. Could you visit the office & speak to someone face to face? You obviously need it sorting asap!

Wish you hadnt mentioned the banana breads, yummmmm!! I'll do you a swap, make me a batch of those & you can have my washing machine ;) !

Sending you lots of hugs, but it sounds as though you are doing a good job, keep up the excellent work!

    xx

Pretty much the same as everyone else as said really just keep strong. Remember the bad times are always the ones we remember. If you need anything don't be afraid to ask there are plenty of people that are willing to help out.

Sammy, I've just been reading the stuff about you waiting for all your benefits to be sorted out.....I don't know how bolshy you feel you can be, but in your position I might be inclined to bowl up at my local MP's surgery, with a screaming baby under one arm, and ask them how the hell you are supposed to wait for somebody to sort it out!

Print off all the messages from this thread and take them along......

I'm a firm believer in taking it to the top....

    All the best.
    Regards

    Kate

yes definately - join pigsback as you can click enough points very quickly for useful vouchers. For example, they give boots vouchers which would cover some of Bens 'baby' needs such as wipes and nappies.

you are doing so well - I wish i had your strength :D

Reading through that, definately worth contacting welfare rights, ien the situation someone needs to get their finger out, if they have sent you the healthy token things, they are therefore stating you are entitled to an income related benefit IMO as these are only paid to those on benefits.
One day I might be more organised...........
