Kilner Jars

Just as Jacky says.
Hopefully, you can use them for the purpose you bought them for. I have a collection of Kilner Jars I've used for years. The first time I used them for storing a liquidy product, homemade Passata, - I was VERY dubious and truly thought I'd end up with yucky mouldy goo. However, I followed the instructions for bottling which very roughly involves heating the jars in a waterbath, adding the hot passata and closing the jars up so as they cool, a vacuum is formed and the sealed product can then be kept in the cupboard until required (then it must be refrigerated). Even so, I was still dubious when I tested the first jar some weeks later..... But hooray! The seal made that satisfying 'whoosh' then opened and the tomatoes were perfectly preserved. Good luck, hope it works for you.0 -

Sorry, we posted at the same time! Oh that is annoying.0 -
I use lots of saved jars for pickles & jams, jellies etc. They are fine, although the kind with plastic screw lids (peanut butter) don't work well - I use jam pot covers for those.
I have bottled tomatoes using proper preserving jars, and they are very good. The only problem is that the jars are expensive, so you need to be very sure you will use them.0 -
