Car ownership: lease or buy?
Hi All
I am starting a new role in the new year where I will be offered a car allowance. I have never had an allowance before, always owned my car, however my current one is ten years old so is due to be changed and I technically need a newer one for the role anyway.
I have looked at a few lease companies and would love to go for an Audi A3 or something similar size but am unsure of how these leases work... To buy would cost several thousand which I cant afford up front as well as considering the running costs etc.
Any experiences of leasing a car would be appreciated to help my decision, I would plan to get rid of my current car but it isnt worth much anyway - also, any recommended companies for leasing would be great.

Don't forget you'll be taxed on the car allowance.
How many miles will you be doing? If lots then leasing can make sense. But buying works better for me.0 -
Presumably you'd be paying monthly if you bought?0

I presume the job is secure enough to support the leasing payments, could you manage them if the job suddenly ended, things are not getting better anytime soon.
The trouble with leasing is that the car has to be to a pre agreed condition and mileage when returned, so all those little parking dings etc will need to be professionally repaired.0 -
