Google Image Search - How to upload?

There is supposed to be a camera icon in the Google search box to allow you to upload images for searching but I can't see it anywhere.

Does anyone know why it doesn't appear or where I can find it?

I'm trying to upload a plant/triffid that grew outside my front door from nowhere but can't see any way of doing it.

Have you logged in to your google account?

Hmm, I can see it. What browser are you using? Could be a HTML5 only thing so if you're using an old browser that doesn't properly support HTML5 it wouldn't show.

Alternatively, you could try http://www.tineye.com/ which does pretty much the same thing

Ah that explains it! If I have to log in to use it then that is the answer because I'm not registered! I had a feeling that might be the case.

Thanks for the tineye link. I've tried that but got no results but I think I need to doctor up the pic first and try again.

you have to go to google image (ie not just the google homepage) http://www.google.co.uk/imghp
no need to sign in, and works on all current browsers (not that you would ever want to use an old browser)

tinyeye i find pretty useless ime . google image search is much better .

Thanks. I tried your link but still there is no camera icon.

tineye only looks for examples or altered versions of the exact photo you upload - it doesn't find similar photos & can only find matches if it's already catalogued & processed them.. If you uploaded a photo you've taken yourself it won't find any matches as they're aren't any photos matching it already on the internet.

This is very cool. The "visually similar images" do scare me when I upload a photo of myself though :rotfl:
