Hi all,
Just a quick question to ask if this is normal, and to see if anyone else is having a similar experience, with this lender !
Our Offer was excepted on 16th January.
On 17th I applied for a Mortgage with Nationwide via L&C,
On 20th I received a letter from L&C stating I needed to sign the application form and send it to Nationwide along with proof of earning etc, the address was in my home town, so I promptly collated all the information and dropped it in their post box the same day
on 25th I had not heard anything so I contacted L&C and the eventually got back to say they only had all of my documents but not the signed application letter (funny as they were in the same envelope) at the end of the day they came back and said they had found the application form but nobody would be available to look at it until Tuesday (30th)
Today (30th) I have contacted L&C again and they have said someone might be allocated to it today or tomorrow.
In comparison to the purchaser of my property who in the same time has had his mortgage application processed (not sure which lender), the survey done over a week ago now, and his solicitor is now talking about completion dates.
Any advice on how I can lean any harder to get this moving ??

My cousin has been having quite a few problems with NW - I don't know the exact nature of these problems, but I do know she is not impressed with them at all at the moment. My sister and her fiance were point blank refused a mortgage with them
very strange, considering they have no adverse credit, both in secure well paid jobs etc etc (they've decided to stay with their current lender).
Sorry, I don't have any words of wisdom as to how you can fire them up, but just thought i'd let you know you're not the only one!0 -
Nationwide have been experiencing some delays and service problems in certain processing centres of late.
They have also just changed part of their online and automated application submission system for intermediaries and this is causing a few teething problems and delays.
Although it may be frustrating that L&C do not appear to be dealing promptly with the issue, do not initially blame them as it it quite normal at the moment for there to be delays with applications via Nationwide.
Be patient though as they are a very good lender and treat customers very well.
As a footnote, if you can get L&C to give you your Nationwide account number or 'M' number then you can get an update via a local branch of Nationwide.0 -
I have had no bother up here in Scotland. I heard a week past last Saturday that we were good to go after the application was sent off in the middle of the previous week - mortgage offer no problem.0

Nationwide are having some backlog problems at the moment. They gave brokers a bit of a warning that they were going to be withdrawing some of the interest rates earlier this month and replacing them with rates which were higher. This has meant that they received a much larger than normal number of cases in a short period of time.
I have two cases with them submitted around the same time as yours, one on 12th Jan the other on 16th Jan. The earlier one has had the survey report back in from the surveyors office today so should get a mortgage Offer in the next few days. The later one had the survey instructed on Saturday and it's being done on Wednesday, so both on similar timescales to your application by the sound of things!
Where abouts is you local Nationwide Office? I can get you the phone number the brokers would use to chase everything if you want to chase it yourself?!?!0 -

If they were experiencing delays and had made brokers aware of it, it would have been nice to know that at the start of the process, as speed to completion is quite important and I may have made a different decision. Other than that I'm not blaming L&C, they are being quite helpful.
I could be wrong but I get the impression that my application hasn't got as far as me getting an M number !!0 -
Northampton Service Centre 3 are in a pickle right now. Last week they were reserving the product for applications but taking another week to allocate to underwriters. You will have to keep on at your broker to ring them and pester every day.0

They didn't make us aware of it before and they haven't officially told us now, it's just experience and the fact we're chasing cases that aren't going anywhere fast!0

Spot on Cazza,
As normal we are always the last to know but the one's who have to make excuses for them.0
