Noticed damage on used car after picking it up
I suspect I will just have to put this down to experience but a few days after picking up my 'new' used car (had it about 2 weeks now) I noticed panel damage on it that I didnt spot when I went to collect it - it looks like the previous owner brushed up against a bollard causing fine scratches to the door, caught the door handle and pushed in the panel round the door handle slightly. I believe this was pre-existing damage and hasnt happened after I bought the car as the area that has the damage still beads when it is wet, has residue from the wax from the valet the did to the car, etc. so has obviously been polished whilst already there. If something would have rubbed up against it then it would be 'fresh' and the water wouldnt bead, etc. The car was bought from a main agent although outside of their approved used scheme - its a 4 year old car and that only covers cars up to one year old - and the damage was not highlighted by the sales person at any time. The previous owner traded it in against a new car so the one I bought would have been appraised and they would still have all the paperwork on it - hopefully with the damage market. I also have the previous owners contact details from all the service records that came with the car although I havent called them yet to see if they traded it in with the damage already there. What are my options, if any, as aside from kicking myself I think it is pretty bad that they let the car go like this when they must have known about it and had a smart repair guy in to fix a few of the other marks that I noticed. Is it reasonable to go back and expect them to fix it or it is my fault for not picking it up and have to put it down to experience?

They didnt disclose the body damage, But did they hide the damage in anyway or say the bodywork is perfect and
has never been damaged? Doubtful.
You had buyers blindness, Failed to inspect it properly. They have not done anything wrong.
Either leave as is or get it sorted at your own cost.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

It can't hurt to go back to the dealer and point it out to them, the worst that can happen is that they'll say no, and you might get lucky and get a contribution out of them.0
