    Rachie,

I have found some of my best sellers accidentally by browsing ebay as a buyer. I see something and have this flash in my brain where you just *know* where you can get that same item for a lot less than it is selling for on ebay.

I stick with what I know though. My small local post office is used by several really big sellers, a couple of which I know have given up work just to sell on ebay. I've spoken to a couple of them and it is frustrating to know that they are buying things locally and selling on ebay and making a big profit yet I can't work out what they sell. I even know where one buys their items but it is in a specialist area that I know nothing about so no use to me.

We stand and chat but of course etiquette and business sense means we never ever let on what any of us sell as we don't want the competition.

One tip though that I will give you as I can't find a source to compete, car badges, just the ones that manufacturers use to badge their cars. There is a big collecting market among children at the moment and they are difficult to get hold of.

    Good luck

    Soo

OMG - do kids actually buy these badges? How times have changed, they used to just pinch em off cars! I suppose thats where it started tho but a lottle less risky getting em cheap of ebay lol!

I didnt really expect anyone to tell me where they can get their goodies for 50p that they sell for £50 but i thought it was worth a shot ;)

Thanks Soo for the tip :)

Well, co-incidentally i looked on ebay for car badges a few weeks back as i used to collect them when i was a kid. The prices they were going for were very low, so it wasnt really worth me even selling my collection off.

With regards to things to sell, well, i sold all my old dvd`s & cd`s on there and then thought "hang on, i could actually buy some more dvd & cd`s and sell on there", so i looked around and noticed that on ebay, if you buy in bulk the dvd`s & cd`s actually tend to make more than if you sold them seperately! Go figure. So, that put that idea out of the window straight away!

Saying that, nearly everything ive wanted to buy on ebay has sold for as much, if not more than the same item costs new.

How come when you want to sell an item it sells for pennys but everytime I want to buy something on ebay it goes for a fortune ?
As for selling stuff my best advice is trade in what you know, and preferably like. So if you have a hobby, intereast or even what you do for a living this will probably be the best areas to sell in. I sell prints which I love doing but got into by accident . I sold one from my own collection which i didint need. It did very well then i noticed no one else was really selling them. As I knew where to get them cheap as I had tracked them down for myself that was me started. Whenever I try and sell something i know nothing about i fall flat on my face.My brother asked me to sell a light for him ( hes an electrician ) - i didnt have a clue - now he is doing it far better than me.
So sit down and have a good think and rememeber us when you get your first million.:D
