Hi there this has happened to my colleague and neither of us know why. Have tried looking on HMRC website but can't find any information. Nothing has changed in her circumstances. does anyone know why this might have happened? She's full time in just one job. thanks

might be better on the taxes board but a reduction would normally be related to benefits in kind, private medical etc There should be a B800 coding notice from the tax office that shows how the code is calculated0

This is only a suggestion, but one year my code went down slightly and it was due to an apparent slight underpayment the previous year (no idea how - I'm PAYE) and to recoup that underpayment they put my code down. The only other things I can think of are if they've been given something like membership of BUPA (even if they haven't actually used it), that counts as a taxable benefit.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244
