Many meters, one property

Meter-rich

Hi,
My house used to be 4 flats, today it is one house. Having 4 meters is sometimes useful - an old NPower tariff reduced the bill by £40 for EACH meter if you also took their boiler breakdown cover. AND that deal is expiring.
Does anyone know of either
a) the best electricity deal for low usage - typically £40 a year
b) an electricity company that will "net out" the 4 meters into one logical account so that you pay highest unit prices on 2 units consumed per day (and not 8 units - 4 meters, 2 units each)
c) an electric company that will physically combine all 4 meters into one meter (they are all in the same cupboard).
Thanks!

Any Npower tariff with direct debit with it's annual discount on each property would usually be best for really low users. I'd keep it as 4 seperate meters just for that annual discount multiplied by 4.
What does the comparison website say?
If you want one meter you'll need to arrange a rewire and a new meter to be installed. Quite a few days work and I'd imagine quite an expense.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Assuming you have four seperate accounts, and therefore four lots of standing charges to pay, I would think you would be better off getting the meters removed and put into just one for the house.
If they are located in the same cupboard it should be pretty easy to get sorted out....provided you don't have too much of a load on the one main fuse that is.0 -
I personally would wonder about switching one onto a economy 7 tariff, and rewiring a bit.
Cheap electricity, with no downside other than the standing charge.
(you'd need to check this made sense of course)0 -
take it you have x4 mpans, if this is the case it will be an expensive job todo. You will also need distrubution for your area to also work on the supply.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
