Laptop keypad problems

I have some how changed the settings on my laptop and when I press for example u,i,o,p etc I have to hold down key FN to get it to come up with the letters otherwise it reads 4,5,6,*.
Can anyone tell me how to change the settings back please?

You have set numbers lock on. You should have a key marked NUMLOCK or similar which needs to be pressed. possibly in conjunction with the FN/Shift or Ctl key
