Only ever used it once really to soften & protect a new leather jacket. I would agree with doing a test patch as it might affect the colour of the sofa being a pale colour- BTW I loved the smell of it!
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

    Hi

We have just got a leather sofa and am wondering about the care of it bearing in mind that we have a wood burner and that is supposed to dry the air out in the room ( or so i am told!)

    Hi

I have just bought a second hand leather chair and found out that a good thing to clean it is Dove soap or the leather cleaners on the market that contain conditioners You should not use microfibre cloths apparently and not wet the leather too much. A number of people use baby wipes but apparently this can damage the leather long term.

use a cheap moisturiser too. rub in, then buff off with a lint-free cloth.

    Hi wilroda,

As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to our existing one on treating a leather sofa. This thread may help too:

If you go intot the 99p stores or even Poundland they do a product by Wizz called leather clean and feed. I spray it on well, work it into the leather using an old dishcloth and it brings up up beautifully. Every six months or so I use saddle soap for a really deep penetrating clean, but the Wizz product every week does the job perfectly and without too much elbow grease!

  • Soap flakes, are fantastic for cleaning, and if you get a nice foam up,so it's not too wetted, you can buff it up nicely.

I have been told baby wipes are not good, but I confess I do use them,as they are so speedy.

I bought some saddle soap, but really couldn't get the hang of it,perhaps I was doing it wrong, and probably not using enough elbow grease!

I very proudly told my mum whose in her 70's that soap flakes were fab for cleaning, the withering look she gave me was embarrassing!
Then I remembered all the times she suggested soap flakes,as an alternative to all these modern wonder products, and I had poo poohed them..........humble pie anyone? I have plenty to go round:embarasse
