If we pay the deposit for our holiday( in our case £150 per person) by credit card then pay the balance by debit card, does the credit card payment cover the whole holiday (both deposit and balance) if there is a problem. Or is the maximum amount covered by the credit card restricted to the deposit and the rest covered by the debit card scheme. Hopefully nothing will go wrong when we actually take the holiday in the New Year but it would be nice to know just in case. Thank you

Are you using Thomas Cook? Don't worry you'll be OK with the cc card and package holidays are ATOL protected anyway.0 -
We are not using Thomas Cook we just wanted what was protected by our Credit card payment. It is for a holiday booked on line with a smaller company which is tailoring our holiday to our needs. It is ABTA bonded. However we wanted to covered by Credit card as well ABTA sometimes take a long time before money is returned. The more ways we are covered the better0

Not quite, the OP mentioned "if there is a problem" , if the OP booked via a travel agent then the booking is 'secure' but there is no cover in relation to accomodation issues etc.
Also who is the person you are travelling with? If they're not immediate family they wouldn't be covered if the payment is made on your card.0 -
Fair point.
However, at least my reply allowed me to use the word 'caboodle'.0 -

Does that mean that you've left your 'kit' off?:DWe need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0 -

Have you got holiday/travel insurance?.....0 -
Who is the credit card payment being made to? If it is to a travel agent then you will be covered under Section 75 if the travel agent goes into administration.
However if they TA has booked accommodation, flights, etc with third parties and one of them goes bust then you are not covered.
You must have a direct relation with the company you would be claiming for.0 -
Please be aware of what cover you are getting.
It won't cover problems at your end like death, sickness etc.
You need travel insurance from when you BOOK as that's when the risk starts.
Theorectically you could be run down by a bus as you leave the travel agents.
Some policies also cover redundancy, but you need to look at cover.0
