sorry to be rude but your friend is pretty thick if they can't grasp that monthly gross salary of £1675 = annual salary of £20,100. And if there is one thing it's really not worth arguing with thick people over, it's maths; if they just don't get it, they REALLY just don't, and you'll only end up wanting to scream. Give up. Let her think what she wants.

Strictly speaking, to get an annual figure to a weekly figure you should divide by 52.143.

Ha ha ha Heretolearn, well i'm not saying he's 'thick'but............i was struggling to understand how he couldn't grasp that we get 12 payments of £1675 which equalls £20,100.

    Thanks everyone.

Just out of interest, why 52.143?

Thank you scheming_gypsy, that is wonderful. I wish people weren't so quick to jump on people on here.

To clarify, yes im just trying to make sure that my 'calculation' is correct as a friend is insisting that we earn under £20,000 and it is more like £19,500 but my assumption is that no one can get past the fact that we get 12 monthly payments of £1675 which come to £20,100.

Sorry but if you are salaried how do you not know what you are earning?

He does know; that's why he multiplied his monthly gross salary by 12.

The point is that he didn't know it per hour. I can't imagine most people would know their salaried jobs by hour. I certainly never have.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".
