Lidl have salt grit in at the moment for £2.99 for 10kg which is not a bad price.

They also have universal in car mobile phone chargers coming in on monday for £2.99

Just to add that Aldi have their winter screenwash in again. No big deal I know but its amazing stuff. Neat it will go down to -60c , half and half down to -20c.

Now do you remember last year, when your washers froze? Not me!

Got a bag of the Lidl salt grit, doesn't seem to have much grit in it so could be mixed with a small bag of coarse sand to make it go further.

As I'm all prepared I bet it won't get below 0'c this winter

I thought it would have been cheaper than course salt, may well be wrong though.

It might be, but the post you responded to said mix it with coarse sand, not salt. Mind you, I can't imagine spreading sugar on your drive would much good for getting rid of ice and providing traction anyway.
