Just now you wont get any help. Poss the £500 sure start grant but not till nearer the birth.
After the birth you will get child tax credits and child benefit and maybe some housing benefit0 -
You can check if you are due any help now by entering your details on the Turn2us online benefit calculator. The Direct Gov website will detail the maximum LHA payable for a 1 bedroom property.
Then you can model the future scenario, after the kid is born, and you move to a bigger place. Remember that your income will reduce any LHA that your household may receive.
See if your council operate a deposit guarantee scheme to help you find a 2 bedroom property, or 1 bed and lounge, but your income may rule this out. Virtually anyone can apply for social housing and very few actually get allocated it but there's no harm in applying and see if you qualify as overcrowded when the baby is born and get classed in a higher band. Your local council website will have info on how they class social housing applicants.
After the baby is born, there will be child benefit.0 -
are you sure you pay council tax for the whole house? Is your studio flat self contained? It may be worth checking with the council as if its self contained it should be treated as just the flat and then the rest of the house would be billed separately and if all students they would get it disregarded.... Debt free date ????
