I still get my beans from a little shop in France in the town I used to live in... My mum sends me regular packages :rotfl: Had a couple of Gaggias over the last 15 years which were fine but treated myself to a Pavoni this year and I absolutely love it :D and yes, my machines get hammered too but they are looked after (weekly backflushing and regular descaling)

I'm sure many people will be perfectly happy with the one posted, it's just once you've tried something better you probably wouldn't want to go back. And don't get me started on the so called "coffee" that get served in most restaurants in the UK :p

  • I have one of these, it's great and we buy our pods from lidl 18 for £1.78 love it, the kenco milikarno is in the back of the cupboard now
  • Hi all,

Can anyone please provide a link to the Which? review for this product?

I have had a look on the Which? website but I can't see this machine being mentioned in the group test......

    Thank you.

Good burr grinders are expensive, the best budget option is a manual - a good one is the Hario mini/slim mill (which is what I've got) at around £30.

    Edit: it's on Amazon at £35 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hario-Coffee-Mill-Ceramic-Slim/dp/B001804CLY

  • We've had this machine too along with many other reasonably priced machines over the years and we found it good also, basically it is just as good as any machine that is sub £150, it won't compare though to a professional/high end machine though. We had it last year we made about 8-10 coffees a day for about 10 months then it gave up Argos exchanged it no bother we got a Delonghi which at the time was £10 more, and I don't see any difference.

The Melangerie Pods are £1.59 for 18 in my local Lidl. I prefer the Colombia & Kenya blends.

The worst coffee I've ever had is in the USA. Consistently awful in every State I visited. Only prospect of a drinkable cup was in Starbucks or other specialist coffee shop.

The UK has improved greatly in recent years. But for the best coffee ... Italy of course.

lol went to Houston over 10 years and I still remember the particularly bad coffee experience - that was until we found a little Italian restaurant hidden a few minutes away from the hotel that kept me in espresso and saved my taste buds (as well as my sanity).

It has improved in the UK but it's still nigh on impossible to find a good Arabica/Robusta blend here - yes Robusta is harsh and not subtle at all but it's also what gives an espresso that little kick that I enjoy so much and a small amount of it blended with good Arabica(s) is excellent, which is why my mum stills sends me little freshly roasted coffee beans parcels from back home (in France, not far from the Italian border) every month :rotfl: though I've just ordered some beans from a UK place as they seem to have a blend that might suit - fingers crossed! I think the reason it's not popular here is because it's probably too strong for the British palate :p (though some of the Lavazza coffees do have quite a bit of Robusta in them... )
