    Happy New year everyone!

Just before Christmas we made a £500 overpayment, meaning our total oweing is now £149,023.

We are allowed to overpay 10% per year which means in 2012 we could potentially overpay £14,900. I dont think we will quite get that, but its definately our target!

How was everyones christmas and new year?

Hmm. We made a £500 overpayment a few weeks ago and i was wondering why we hadnt received a letter telling us the new amount oweing. Today i log into my online banking and the regular mortgage payment has come out at £250, 500 less than the normal payment! Like always we phoned them to tell them we wanted it off the capital, so annoying!

Sorted out the lost overpayment! They obviously didnt log it properly when we phoned to say to take it off the capital. I made another £500 overpayment out of the account that the mortgage comes from.

We now Owe £148,274.44 and are due to end the mortgage in April 2039 :o)

Its been a long time since i updated here but not much has really been happening!

The GF didnt get into her on the job teacher training this year and is now starting to think she might like to stay in her current role a while longer. Good for overpayments, but bad for me as she spends so much time away from home with work :(

Anyway, since i last updated we have made a total overpayment of 3300 (sales bonus time in march :))

This means we are now down to £144,458 over 26 years which means we have knocked 3 and a half years off our mortgage already :)

So far its just been the GF making overpayments as i have been building up my nest egg to 3 months salary (she already has hers) but in the next couple of months i hope to join in with the overpayments and we should be able to hit our 10% limit for this year!

I hope everyone is doing well out there is MFWB land?

Quick update on an extra income source i have discovered over the last few months...

I have been making technogy review and how to videos on youtube for a while and a few months ago my youtube account was activated for google adsense meaning i could add them to my videos and gain a slither of income. Its working out at about 40p a day and im up to £30 in my adsense account now. You cant get a payout until £60, but might be an idea if any of you out there have any videos on there?

Made an overpayment this week of £700!

That takes our mortgage down to £143,494 and our term down to 25 years and 8 months.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

Not sure we are going to be able to make an overpayment in June. We are going to be tiling out our main bathroom and adding a shower (why would you have a bathroom without a shower, silly builders!). Luckily my dad is a plumber and a dab hand at tiling so he will do the labour for free. Unfortunately a whole bathroom worth of tiles is going to cost us a few hundred quid!

In other news, I am edging closer to a payout on google adsense! £60 is the threshold and im on £59.20! They only do payouts at the end of each month so hoping i can make another 80p in the next 3 days!

Wow! My first update since may! But its our first overpayment since then so i guess its ok :o)

We just managed to pay £2500 with our left over money we had allocated for the bathroom and patio. That takes us down to £138,909.22. It feels good being under the 140 mark!

How is everyone doing? Did you all have nice summers?

I really like your idea for making a bit of cash on the side Jim. Without giving away any specifics, do you tend to review 'new shiny stuff', or is it focused around one particular area of technology (say mobile phones)?

I'd consider doing this for one of my hobbies - quite nerdy, but it has a lot of participants with decent disposable income who may click through :)

I unbox and review everything and anything technology related. I have done my tv, speakers, camera, laptop, media streams and loads of other stuff. One of my best viewed reviews is my ipod dock alarm clock! Tonight i shall be doing an unboxing video of my shiney new iphone!
