Mortgage exit fee reclaiming

Hello, first post so any assistance would be much appreciated.
Going back as far as 1994 I have had as many mortgages as Gazza has had football clubs, but naturally over the years have shredded or lost historical documents. I subscribed to Experian to help jog the memory but it only goes back my last 3 homes.....
I know where I lived (naturally) and can guess at the lender, but have no account details of any mortgage I had and to suggest any dates would be purely best guess.
Is there a way to ring the assumed lender to acquire account details so I can see if I am entitled to MEAF's? If my grey matter is correct I have had 6 properties and perhaps as many as 8-10 mortgages, moving lender, re-mortgage you name it......what are my chances and where do you suggest I start.
You time in assisting would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.:o

There has been no ruling or issue that requires lenders to refund MEAFs.
The only issue regarding MEAFs is that the FSA requires lenders to refund the difference between what you paid and what was put on the contract/offer letter (or the fee at the time if not on there) if you were charged more.
i.e. if your offer letter said it was £150 and you paid £200 then you are entitled to a refund of £50.
Increasing MEAFs didnt really start until around 2001. It tended to affect those that moved their mortgages infrequently (to allow a time for the increases to occur). A frequent mover tended to pay what their contract said. Its been around 3 years since the ruling and lenders have followed the FSA ruling since then and not increased. So, you have a limited window in most cases.
You can ask the lenders if you paid an increased amount and expect to get the difference refunded but that is all.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Ok, Thanks for the comments, but the original question still stands will the company look into their records for me when considering I do not have the historical account details?????????????0

Obviously I will, but thought it wouldnt hurt to ask the question first.
Thanks for stating the obvious, but as ever the question still stands0 -
in response to my question ofI never said I was entitled to anything
as per your statement previously,Why do you think you should be entitled to anything?
. So yes, you have a thought that you are entitled to something.so I can see if I am entitled to
You have had more mortgages than Gazza had football clubs, and every lender will have a different policy, different procedure and different computer systems.
If the answer you get here is "Yes, they will", what good is that to you? If the answer you get is "No, they won't", it makes no difference. Nobody on here can tell you the answer, so just call the companies involved.I am an Independent Financial AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as an Independent Financial Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Steady tiger I only asked a simple question, if you cant answer it please refrain from commenting. For all you know someone on here may be in the same boat or may have had asked the question to their lender, so it never hurts to ask. It appears the little chip on your shoulder has taken a swifty.......no need for a response you can leave us in suspense at to what it would be. Thanks Mr Grim Meeper0

Why do you think that lenders will still retain the records?
This is getting quite difficult now, I don't know if they will or not! To reiterate my original question still stands;
Does anyone know if Mortgage lenders will keep a record of historical customers and if so for how long. What information will I need in the absence of any account number etc ?
Has anyone ever asked the question and if so how did you get on?0
