Orange itemised billing charge

My girlfriend has an Orange contract phone. Back in July, Orange wanted to start charging £1.50 for itemised billing. You could opt out by texting them. She did this and was not billed for an itemised bill, but still recieved them. On her last 2 bills, she had been charged for an itemised bill.
She contacted Orange, who removed the charge and was told that the system had been overwhelmed and there had been "lots of mistakes"
Check you bills if you opted out of "Itemised billing"

Exactly the same happened to my OH after texting to opt out of itemised billing - rung them up and got the charges refunded without any problems.0

Agreed, everyone should make a point of checking their bills.
Funnily enough I have two, and being a MS I texted the opt-out for both. Upon receiving the next bill one was itemised and one wasn't (funny considering each of them are not used so they were charging for itemising zero transactions). I was also told the text system had been 'overwhelmed' when I rang up to query.
While Orange where very helpful and refunded the amount taken I felt that seeing as how they were obviously aware that a significant number of opt-outs did not process correctly then they should have pro-actively warned their customers to that extent. Very dissapointed that Orange have just apparently pocketed the additional charges from all the people who had the gall to presume that the appropriate action would be taken if they did something as shocking as following Orange's instructing 100%-exactly-to-the-letter.
