Hi! Wondered if you clever guys could help me out with a query about my father's printer?!?!
It's an HP Laserjet 1150 which needs a new print cartridge. He's always used a 24A cartridge in the past, but after checking on the HP website, it apparently takes either a 24A, which costs around £58 or a 92A wich costs around £37. What's the difference between them?!?!
I'll obviously source the cartridges from somewhere cheaper, but wasn't sure if there was a good reason to spend the money on the more expensive cartridge! It only needs to print in black and white and he does't print off anything which needs a really high quality - it's just Word documents and similar! Thank you!

No, these are both the cartridges I found on the HP website! http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF13a/5043-5343-5347-5347-5411-294041.html This is why I'm really confused!0

Well as presumably you won't be buying from HP, what does it matter? Just find a company that specialises in suppling equivalent cartridges at a good price. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I just wasn't sure if there was a good reason for the more expensive one being more expensive!
I know I can get the genuine HP cartridges cheaper from a shop near home, but if there's a good reason for the 24A being better than the 92A, then I wondered what the difference was! I'm all for money saving but sometimes you get what you pay for too! I know very little about this sort of thing so I didn't want to buy something which might not even ft in my printer!
Sorry if I sound like an absolute muppet!0 -

Hi Cazza
Looking at the specs - They both print 2,500 pages but it would seem the cheaper 92a has a greater humidity range Operating humidity range
10 to 90% RH
And is also usable in the LJ3200
But the price difference would seem to be the fact that the 24A is an "Instant On" fuser and claims to be able to have the first page out in 10 seconds, which may account for the extra 0.07kg.
92A fact sheet
24A fact sheet
Hope that clears things up for you ?Rich people save then spend.

Ah! So the 92A is probably cheaper because it doesn't print as quickly? I don't think humidity will be a problem in West Sussex!0

Only the first page is quicker ... so in an office it may be important when lots of one page docs are printed.
Once the printer starts the following pages will be at about the same speed as the printer rating - no matter what toner cartridge is fitted (24A or 92A)Rich people save then spend.

Ok, I think I get it now! The speed of the first page isn't really all that relevent so think I'll be going for the cheaper cartridge. Thank you!0
