I am looking at getting a kindle with the wifi/3g thing.
Will it work in Australia?
Its just I looked at amazon.com and it had a drop down list of which country it would be for so they could send the correct one ??

I thought they were 'global' things?? no idea about all this stuff.
will it matter if I buy one here - it will still work over there?? (They are £30 cheper over there so not too bothered if I have to wait till over there to get one. It just confused me.)

countries covered by the 3g and where you buy it are 2 diff things, after all you could be on holiday in Oz with a UK kindle. If it says Australia is covered then you should be OK.
Australia appears to be covered

I am living in Australia and it has one of the best 3G networks in the world, the 2 main telcos are Telstra and Optus - check coverage maps at Telstra Coverage and Optus Coverage
The Kindle is sold in Australia, I've just had a look at one of the shops selling it and it says global wireless coverage in 100 countries and territories, I would assume what you buy in the UK will have the same capabilities - http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/kindle
Free wi-fi is available to non residents in some libraries and cafe's and restaurants such as McDonalds.0 -
Oh, you must let me know if you know of any sites like this over there.....0
