Newish woodburner - flue sealant is cracking off

Hi all
I wondered if anyone might be able to help.
We had a new woodburner installed 3 months ago, but we've noticed the cementy type sealant around the flue pipe has cracked and is coming off. Presumably because we let the fire get too hot. Can anyone recommend something to reapply to the flue?

Fire Cement, Available from any good hardware store.

I think it is called XL fire cement, some fireplace shops sell it, think b&q and alsmost sure seen it in Homebase, by the electric fires scetion0

If fire cement is coming away I would go for high temp sealant adhesive like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEATSEAL-HIGH-TEMPERATURE-SEALANT-ADHESIVE-Not-silicone-/250930220063?_trksid=p3284.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D21%26pmod%3D130505346106%26ps%3D54 dont be tempted to go for the silicone sealer as that is only rated to about 300 degYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

I was worried about this on mine but our chimneysweep said not to worry. Said you are better without the sealant as the pipe and the stove need to be able to expand and contract.
He rmoved it altogether and it is fine.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Why on earth you are contemplating going out and buying something (or indeed why you are being advised to) is beyond me. Install was only 3 months ago. If you have a problem the work is, therefore, under guarantee. The only cost you need to consider is the one single 'phone call to your installer. Simples.Melaniep101 wrote: »Hi all
