How do I tile and print images in Photoshop Elements 9

Options
I want to reproduce an image nine times on a page (I am going to cut it out to use on Christmas cards). I have recently installed Photoshop Elements 9 and cannot find this as an option in it (it used to exist in the original Photoshop but that was a while ago).

If it does not exist in PSE9 for some reason, is there an add-on I can buy to generate multiple tiled images on a page and print them from one original.

Just open the image and copy it, then open a new sized page (sized to the size of your card) and then paste it on there.
You shouldjust be able to keep pasting them on until you have filled the card. (you will need to drag them into the correct position).

Sorry cant be more helpful, i've not got your program (I work in Photoshop CS5 and im not sure if the option are the same to step images).

It used to be the case that you could say how many images you wanted to print on the page - 3x2 or 4x4 etc and it would generate them automatically and then you could print it out.

There are lots of uses for this - for example generating place cards for a meal or a function where people are sitting at tables, for name tags where you write in the names etc.

I can't believe if for some mad reason it is not longer provided in Photoshop that someone else does not have an app for it?
  • I don't have Photoshop Elements, but is there an option in the print settings to tile an image? or does it have a Fill > Pattern function? If so, you could just design your 'card', then create a new page 4x4, or whatever, in size, then you can copy the whole of your card and just use the Fill > Pattern function to (tile) fill the 4x4 page with the copied design.
  • the way I said would do the job fine, as the images 'snap' together in place (fine if you are only doing one card).

If not, check out - http://www.essential-photoshop-elements.com/step-and-repeat-in-photoshop.html

Well I have been onto the Adobe forum and it seems there is a problem with doing multiple copies of one image on the same page in Photoshop Elements 9. The software is divided into two section, Editor and Organiser and you are supposed to be able to do this simply in Organiser. Somehow in the process of reprogramming to achieve this division, they removed the Contact sheet functionality from it.

The abililty to print multiple copies of one image on a page is so useful I cannot understand why it did not emerge in testing that this function did not work and was then fixed once they discovered it.

I do wonder if companies are so busy outsourcing their software development that they no longer have the capability to fix it when things go wrong at a basic level. Instead they resort to justifications after the event (like MS and the way they no longer support animated gifs in Win 7 except when viewed via IE9.)

I am now looking at alternative software packages to see if I can find one which handles multiple copies of one image by letting you specifiy how many per page without a lot of cut and paste or drag and drop.
