Error code 643 when installing Windows updates

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem? My laptop has Windows 7 operating system and I've been getting a constant problem when installing updates. Some updates install, but with all the others I get the 643 code and it says Windows has encountered an unknown error.
Am hoping this is something straightforward enough to fix as I'm not very computer literate! Any advice would be very much appreciated.

See if this helps. It could also be your security software blocking the update.0

Thanks very much- looks scary, but will see if I can get my head round it!
As regards security, I have the free version of AVG, Windows firewall and the firewall on our wireless router. Had the same setup when my laptop was Windows XP, but never had any problems installing updates....0 -
