I have got a Chinese aquaintance and have just bought a nice Pig pin do you think he would be offended if I gave it as a small gift for new year as it is year of the pig?0

I don't think that would be a good idea, unless they were born in the year of the pig.
Think of the Chinese Zodiac as a normal Zodiac. Would you want (to wear) an Aires pin if you were a Gemini?
There won't be any offence, think of it like giving someone a calendar (, a reminder that 2007 is the year of the pig).0
