My advice is to get it seen to by a specialist, as if you don't know what you are doing, you could easily accidently format the drive or erase all of your data. I'd imagine it wouldn't cost more than £30 (if you went to a reputable dealer) to get it recovered. My brother's laptop hard drive overheated and it only cost him £26 to get it recovered.
Hope this helps

Anyone offering to do recovery for £26 is clearly just using the same free software that everyone is capable of using-they're not a 'specialist'. Proper professional data recovery under clean conditions starts at about £300.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
ahh! Mission creep!
Don't you just love it?
If you read the original post you'll find it's just a data error. NOT hardware...
No clean rooms, no £1000 recovery charge, no men in spacesuits to keep the dust away....
All the OP needs is a USB caddy, Recovery software, and a few hours to let it do it's job.
it basically IS a £30 job to any competent IT guy.
All they need to do is...
At worse reconstruct data from the drive (that's an overnight job! and will cost a bit more)
At best it's a 10 min job for the software to find the backup partition table and copy it to the correct location then all you need to do is reboot and you're good as gold!
