Hi,
My mum has asked for a laptop for Christmas to listen to Spotify on. Apart from that, all she would be doing is checking email and a bit of web surfing. I'm thinking a laptop might be overkill and maybe a netbook would be sufficient. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

She asked for a laptop, but you want to get her a Netbook? Cheapskate.
This MSI Wind U135 is not terrible @ (£154) and makes it easy to upgrade the RAM to 2GB.0 -
Would she have trouble seeing/typing on the smaller keys, and that's why she's asked for a laptop? I know my mum would struggle.0

If the main requirement is spotify, listen to a few in the shops, bigger laptops have room for better speakers, but the sound can vary significantly from model to model!!

Hello,
If you'd only need it for Spotify and checking e-mails, then i'd go for a netbook or a tablet PC. Although some tablet PC's dont support Spotify at the moment. A cheap netbook would be ideal. If sound quality is important, then make sure the netbook has a headphone input jack and get a set of good speakers to go with it. It would still work out cheaper than a Laptop.
Hope this helps0 -
ipod touch and speaker dock ? much more portable and better sound !0
